Utilities Administration
The Utilities Administration Department works to provide exceptional and reliable utility services for our community including electric, water, wastewater, and solid waste utilities. The Utilities Administration works to incorporate fiscally responsible practices into daily operations and maintenance. Utility maintenance efforts are completed through the Electric and Water/Wastewater Division.
Services
- The Electric Division secures adequate electric resources to provide a safe and reliable distribution system to residential and commercial customers
- Manages and schedules power supply resources to meet daily and seasonal energy requirement
- Maintains the electrical distribution system at a high level of safety and reliability
- The Water Division operates and maintains the distribution system to deliver an adequate and safe supply of water for fire protection, domestic, industrial, and irrigation purposes to the community
- Maintains appropriate permitting and compliance with federal and state public health regulations administered by the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection
- The Wastewater Division operates and maintains the sanitary sewer collection system and wastewater treatment plant to safeguard the health and safety of the public and environment
- Ensures wastewater treatment plant maintains compliance with the Groundwater Discharge Permit along with federal and state public health regulations administered by the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection
- Facilitates conservation efforts through rebate programs for Boulder City Residents
- Facilitates water conservation efforts in conjunction with the Southern Nevada Water Authority

Electric Service Information
Boulder City receives most of its power from renewable hydroelectric sources (Hoover Dam and Glen Canyon Dam on Lake Powell). Power use ranges from approximately 22 megawatts (MW) of power in cooler months, to about 50 MW on a peak summer day.
