Boulder City’s energy strategy aims to prioritize renewable resources such as hydroelectric power, supplemented by solar energy and market purchases. The city relies heavily on external market purchases during peak summer months due to high energy demand and hydro limitations, while hydro takes a dominant role in other months. Townsite Solar contributes throughout the year but at a smaller scale.

The City's Purchased Power contracts include:

Hoover Schedule A - 20.0 MW capacity, expiring 2067
Hoover Schedule B - 8.5 MW capacity, expiring 2067

SLCAIP - 5.5 MW capacity (summer) / 7.3 MW capacity (winter), expiring 2057

Townsite Solar - 5 MW capacity, expiring 2052

Market Energy (SSEA) - Varies
