Traffic Safety
The Traffic Safety Section is staffed by Officers Ian Ham and Pete Wheeler. These officers have been trained in specialized areas such as:
- DUI Enforcement
- Interdiction
- Traffic Accident Investigations
Traffic Crash Investigation
The Traffic Bureau is committed to improving traffic safety through traffic enforcement and education. Traffic Officers develop strategies that will most effectively increase traffic safety for the citizens of Boulder city and those visitors traveling to and through Boulder City. The Traffic Bureau is constantly evaluating traffic collision data, complaints, and comments by our citizens and road engineering problems to make our roads safer. Some of our strategies include but are not limited to high visibility traffic enforcement events and traffic checkpoints, public education, and targeted traffic enforcement.
Other Services
- Conducts crash investigations on public roads within the city limits of Boulder City
- Conducts follow up investigations on hit and run crashes
- Responds and documents crashes on private property
- Responds to parking and traffic complaints
- Works closely with outside agency traffic bureaus on dignitary escorts and special events
- Conducts and coordinates traffic enforcement events inside and outside Boulder City with other police agencies.
Community Involvement
Community involvement is crucial to identifying traffic problems and violations. Citizens can notify the BCPD of a traffic complaint or problem by clicking on the email link located at the top left of this page (within the Police Department contact information box). All submissions will be assigned to an officer for additional follow-up and assessment.
