Licensing & Fees

In 2017, Boulder City passed an ordinance that made spay/neuter mandatory for pets with very few exceptions (see ordinance here). Licenses are available at the City Hall Utilities Office and the Animal Shelter. A valid rabies vaccination certificate is required to purchase a license. Licenses are valid from January to January. Licensing Fees are as follows:

  • Spayed / neutered dogs and cats: $4
  • Pot belly pigs:
    • Initial fee: $100
    • Renewal fee: $50

Adoption Fees

  • Rabies vaccination certificate fees:
    • Adopted animals: $8
    • Owned animals released to owners: $10
  • Adoption fees: $8
  • Cat spay / neuter certificate: $30
  • Dog spay / neuter certificate: $50

Impounding Fees

  • 1st impound: $15
  • 2nd impound: $30
  • 3rd impound: $45
  • 4th impound: $60
  • 5th impound: $75
  • Additional impounds: $100

Animal Disposal Fees

  • Small animals under 20 pounds: $10
  • Small animals over 20 pounds: $20
  • Horses and livestock: $70
  • Small livestock: Determined by Animal Control

Boarding Fees

Boarding fees (in addition to impound fees) are:

  • $4.00 per cat per day
  • $8.00 per dog per day
