Chief Ken Morgan has been active in emergency services for over 40 years. His fire service career began in 1974 as a young “Chaser” in Carson City, Nevada. In 1976, he entered the United States Air Force, serving a 4-year active and 2-year reserve enlistment. While stationed at Minot AFB, he became a member of the Minor Rural Fire Department, rising to the rank of Captain of Training. In 1978 he became an EMT. He worked part time for Land’s Ambulance and upon separation from military service entered full time employment as an EMT in Minot, ND. 

In 1983, he went to paramedic school in Grand Forks, ND, graduating first in his class. After completing Paramedic School, he relocated to Las Vegas, NV and worked for Mercy Ambulance as a paramedic. 

In 1988 Chief Morgan was hired by Clark County as a firefighter Paramedic. He served in CCFD until retirement in 2011, progressing to Engineer/Paramedic, Captain/Paramedic, Battalion Chief, and eventually Deputy Chief of Operations. Chief Morgan has been a Nationally Registered Paramedic for over 40 years.

 Chief Morgan served on Nevada Task Force 1, one of 26 FEMA Urban Search and Rescue teams. He was deployed to New Orleans, after Hurricane Katrina destroyed the area. In 2013 he was appointed as Fire Chief of Meriden, Connecticut. 

In 2017, Chief Morgan served as the acting City Manager for the City of Meriden for 8 months, while a search was conducted for a permanent replacement.  

Chief Morgan continues to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels in Personnel Management, Ethics, and Research as well as related fire science subject areas. 

Chief Morgan has served as a board member of the Connecticut Fire Chiefs Association, and on the International Association of Fire Chiefs, Safety Health and Survival board. Additionally, He served on the Board of Directors for Make-A-Wish of Southern Nevada. 

Chief Morgan holds a Ph. D, in Business Administration, with a concentration in Public Administration, a Master’s in Public Administration, a Bachelor of Science in Fire Administration, and two Associate Degrees. 

Chief Morgan has been married to Dona for 40 Years, and has three children; Amanda, an Administrator for Clark County Schools, Michael, a Mechanical Engineer, and Tabetha, who is a manager for a hotel chain. He has six grandchildren.
